Rona Cowden, Finance Manager at WSW Refurbishments, and her running group "The Running Joke" all completed the 2024 London Marathon last Sunday and each under 5 hours. The team was running for Anthony Nolan (the charity that gives people with blood cancer a second chance at life) and they collectively raised over £25,000 for this amazing charity.
“The Running Joke” Raise 25K For Anthony Nolan
The London Marathon, a renowned event uniting runners worldwide, challenges participants with its 26.2-mile course winding through London's landmarks. For Rona, it was more than a physical test; it was an opportunity to support Anthony Nolan's life-saving mission.
Anthony Nolan, a UK charity, focuses on battling blood cancer by connecting stem cell donors with patients needing transplants. “The Running Joke’s” fundraising efforts contribute to this cause, providing hope and support to those fighting against leukaemia and lymphoma.
Rona shared, "The decision to run for this cause holds a deeply personal connection for us. Our teammate Sian faced her own battle with acute myeloid leukaemia, which has made us even more committed to supporting Anthony Nolan. It's a poignant reminder of the importance of organisations like Anthony Nolan and the profound impact they have on people's lives."
Rona would like to thank WSW Refurbishments, Why Media, work colleagues and all the sub-contractors who so generously donated to this very worthy cause and provided encouragement throughout the training.
