Rona Cowden, Finance Manager at WSW Refurbishments, is now well underway with training for the 2024 London Marathon, Rona will be joined by her long-term running companions, the “Running Joke”, where she will run to support Anthony Nolan, the Blood Cancer Charity.

The decision to run for Anthony Nolan holds a personal connection for Rona and her friends, as team member, Sian, discovered health issues while running. Tragically, she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia, a severe blood cancer, and Anthony Nolan became her lifeline, providing an urgent stem cell transplant in April 2022. Grateful for the life-saving intervention, the team now aims to give back by raising awareness and funds for Anthony Nolan through the London Marathon.
Rona, who has been part of the WSW Refurbishments team since 2015, expresses her appreciation to her colleagues. ‘I’d like to thank everyone at WSW Refurbishments for their support as I continue to rigorous training programme to ensure that myself and The Running Joke can complete the London Marathon and raise as much money and awareness as possible. It’s a daunting challenge, but with the support of my colleagues, our clients, friends and family, I know we can accomplish anything.’
