WSW Refurbishments, a trusted partner of Acer Trust, proudly announces its generous contribution towards the success of the Acer Trust Eco Fair 2023. The event, held in June, showcased the remarkable efforts of staff and students across Acer Trust to reduce energy consumption and create a positive impact on the environment while maximising investments in education.

Acer Trust, an esteemed educational organisation committed to nurturing young minds, set an ambitious goal this year - to save 20% in energy consumption compared to the previous year. Through collaborative efforts, the executive group aimed to reduce the trust's ecological footprint and ensure funds are dedicated solely to enhancing children's education.

As a dedicated partner of Acer Trust, WSW Refurbishments pledged exciting prizes to recognise and reward schools that demonstrated outstanding achievements in reducing gas and electricity consumption. The prizes included a £300 cash donation for the first-place winner, an Apple iPad for the second-place winner, and £175 Amazon vouchers for the third-place winner.

The highly anticipated award ceremony occurred at the Eco Fair, hosted by Icknield Community College in collaboration with the Watlington Climate Action Group on Friday, 23rd June 2023. WSW Refurbishments made a significant contribution by donating the first prize of £300 cash, awarded to Matthew Arnold School for their remarkable 32% reduction in gas consumption. The achievement was made possible through initiatives such as temperature adjustments, the installation of tamper-proof thermostats, and dedicated efforts to educate staff and students.

The second prize, an Apple iPad, generously donated by Central Roofing & Building Services Ltd, was awarded to Botley School. The school achieved an impressive 31% reduction in electricity consumption through initiatives, including upgrading LED lighting last summer. In addition, their commitment to energy-saving assemblies and empowering their staff and students through behavioural changes played a significant role in their success.

A Highly Commended prize of Amazon vouchers was also bestowed upon the Eco Fair hosts, Icknield Community College. The college achieved an impressive combined energy saving of 22% through the appointment of student energy monitors, the pursuit of Eco-Schools Green Flag accreditation, and investment in replacing gas-fired hot water systems with electric point-of-use heaters in the Sports Hall block. This remarkable accomplishment showcased their dedication to environmental sustainability.

Colin Cheek, Managing Director of WSW Refurbishments, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership with Acer Trust and the Eco Fair. He stated, "We are thrilled to support Acer Trust's Eco Fair 2023 and commend the exceptional efforts of all the participating schools. It is inspiring to witness the dedication of staff and students to reducing energy consumption and positively impacting the environment. We are proud to contribute to their achievements and reinforce our commitment to sustainability in the education sector."

WSW Refurbishments continues to be at the forefront of promoting environmentally friendly practices within the educational community. Through their ongoing collaboration with Acer Trust and other partners, they strive to empower schools and inspire the next generation to build a brighter, greener future.
