Scope of Works
Project Overview:
WSW Refurbishments undertook a residential refurbishment project in Watford. This included rebuilding a bin and cycle store that a fire had severely damaged. The project required planning, expert execution, and a focus on safety and durability.
Client Requirements:
Following a fire, our team was appointed to rebuild a bin storage environment for a client in Watford. This included a complete rebuild of the area and a brand-new roof.
Scope of Work:
- Rebuilding Bin and Cycle Store
The initial step was to assess the extent of the fire damage. This involved a detailed inspection to understand the structural integrity and safety requirements. The plan was developed to rebuild the store with enhanced features and durability.
- New Roof Installation
A new, robust roof was installed to ensure longevity and protection against weather elements. This involved selecting fire-resistant materials and designing a structure that could withstand various environmental conditions.
- Internal and External Lighting
Internal and external lighting systems were installed to improve safety and usability. Energy-efficient LED lights were chosen for their long lifespan and low maintenance. The lighting was strategically placed to illuminate all store areas, enhancing visibility and security.
- Cleaning Bricks and Floor
The fire had left significant soot and residue on the bricks and floor. To restore the surfaces' original appearance, a thorough cleaning process using high-pressure washing was undertaken.
- Floor Refinishing
The floor was refinished to repair fire damage and wear and tear. This included sanding the surface, filling any cracks, and applying a durable, slip-resistant finish suitable for high-traffic areas.
- Brick Wall Rebuilding
Several brick walls required rebuilding due to extensive fire damage. High-quality bricks and mortar were used to reconstruct the walls, ensuring they matched the existing structure and provided robust support.
- Floor Drain Repair
The floor drain, essential for preventing water accumulation, was cut out and repaired. This involved clearing blockages, replacing damaged sections, and ensuring the drain was fully operational.
- Planning and Preparation
Before commencement, a detailed project plan outlining each phase of work was drafted. Permits were secured, and all necessary safety measures were put in place. The team was briefed on the project's specifics, emphasising quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
Results and Outcome:
The project was completed on time and within budget. The new bin and cycle store restored the functionality lost to the fire and enhanced it with modern features and improved durability. The client was highly satisfied with the result, praising the professionalism and expertise of the WSW Refurbishments team.
